DVA Architecture, in collaboration with WDM Architects, embarked on an exciting venture to revamp and enrich the habitat for CMZ's tropical bears. The project aimed at creating a more stimulating environment that closely mimics the natural habitat of these magnificent creatures. The expanded exhibit, now double its original size, incorporates a myriad of innovative features designed to enhance the well-being and promote the natural behaviors of the bears.
Among the notable additions are climbing structures, elevated resting spots, and dig pits strategically placed throughout the habitat. These elements not only provide physical enrichment but also encourage the bears to engage in their instinctual behaviors, fostering a more dynamic and fulfilling environment.
Moreover, significant behind-the-scenes upgrades were implemented to support nesting bears, including the installation of multi-level resting areas. These enhancements ensure that the bears have ample space and resources to thrive and flourish in their new habitat.
For visitors, the revamped exhibit offers an immersive experience like never before. New glass viewing areas provide guests with the opportunity for up-close encounters and face-to-face interactions with the bears, allowing for a deeper connection and appreciation of these incredible animals.
At the heart of the exhibit lies an awe-inspiring treehouse, offering panoramic views of the bear habitats. This unique structure not only serves as a vantage point for guests but also features a specially designed climbing structure for children to mimic bear behaviors and observe the habitat from above.
Additionally, a dedicated viewing area has been established to allow visitors to observe the dedicated animal care and veterinary staff in action as they conduct training sessions and monitor the health and well-being of the bears. This behind-the-scenes glimpse offers a deeper understanding of the dedication and care that goes into ensuring the welfare of the animals.
Overall, the collaboration between DVA Architecture and WDM Architects has resulted in a transformative and enriching experience for both the bears and visitors alike. With its thoughtful design and innovative features, the enhanced habitat sets a new standard for wildlife exhibits, providing a captivating and educational experience for all who visit.
